Review of A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song (2011) by Jerry H — 20 Oct 2011
Ever since Troy and Gabriella's "Musical" romance became a media juggernaut, the kiddie entertainment world has been flooded with musically inclined movies and television. Between "JONAS," "Big Time Rush," "Lemonade Mouth," and "Spectacular!".
..yeah, it's been arriving on the airwaves, cinemas and video stores by the dozens. It's no surprise, then, that Warner Premiere would make the third "Cinderella Story" outing "VICTORiOUS" meets "Ever After.
" As a movie: "Once Upon a Song" was good but not great. The musical performances and acting were great; I especially loved the African-American all-male acapella group, and Lucy Hale was quite the hottie as the leading lady.
However, some profanity--especially the ten-plus misuses of God's name--and sexual content muddled things a bit. However, this is not the ultimate schlock-fest that the second "Cinderella Story," which starred Selena Gomez, was.
If you're an older fan of pre-teen-themed flicks, this might be worth a rental, but I don't think anyone (aside from me, the guy who never completely forgets a movie) will be talking about this ten years from now.
