Review of A Christmas Story (1983) by Erika O — 25 Dec 2011
To me A Christmas Story is probably the greatest christmas movie of all time and is a classic to me. A Christmas Story is about Ralphie, a young boy who really wants a Red Rider BB gun for christmas but is getting told by everyone that he can't get it because they think he'll shoot his eye out.
During this whole movie Ralphie gets himself into many bad situations and some pretty funny situations. With all thats going on he now has to wait for Christmas Day to get his BB gun. I can always relate to this movie because I've always had the excitement on Christmas morning to go down stairs and open my presents and I know how Ralphie feels waiting for Christmas.
This movie is a Christmas classic and a film I watch every single year during Christmas time. I think the idea for the movie is perfect because it's basically a movie about almost every kid who has that one thing they want for Christmas.
This movie has many hilarious scenes and many memorable scenes, such as the lamp the family won, the fight, and Christmas Day at there house. The acting is also perfect in this movie as well as everything else.
Peter Billingsley gives is greatest performance and just goes with the flow since he's a kid and all he has to do is act how he would if he really wanted this present. Melinda Dillon and Darren McGavin also give great performances as Ralphie's parents and Jean Shepard's narrating is absolutely perfect for this movie.
Overall A Christmas Story is one of the best Christmas films ever and an instant classic to me.
