Review of A Christmas Story (1983) by Annie P — 22 Sep 2012
Quite possibly the greates Christmas film of all time, "A Christmas Story" has left a long lasting, and well deserved, legacy. The film follows Ralphie as Christmas nears, and he wants nothing more than to get the Red Rider BB gun.
This film is realtable to anyone who woke up on Christman, only to discover that there was just one gift that they didn't get. The acting is delightful and very believable from everyone. The flashbacks are especially great, with all of the actors overdoing it and adding on the cheese.
The moves nicely, getting from one great joke to the next, but it never sacrifices the story for the sake of a joke, something that a lot of comedies today should take note of. The film is a staple of the Christmas holiday, which is why the channel TBS runs a 24 hour marathon of it.
There will never be another holiday film as memorable as this.
