Review of A Christmas Story (1983) by Shane Z — 07 Dec 2014

Little Ralphie really wants a Red Ryder B.B Gun for Christmas, and not even the objections of authority figures will except his quest to get it.
Of course, I'll say this to people that been around this time period. The film can keep memories growing up in the 1940s and you can get or ask for anything that can set your imagination with it, for example, again Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) wants a B.B gun and one scene he imagining he's the Lone Ranger saving his family from criminals breaking in the backyard by shooting them with his new Red Ryder.
Damn I love this movie. It's funny, charming, and quirky, but it also seems rather dark, kinda twisted, and mean spirited. It manages to keep its balance and stay good natured. No matter how many times you see it especially when it's on for a 24 hour marathon during the holidays on TBS, it never is boring. I see maybe in another 30 years "A Christmas Story" will be the most watch holiday film and mostly people's favorite holiday film in a long, long time, it still will never be boring.
