Review of A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) by Kaley V — 04 Dec 2009
This is a classic Christmas special. It has always been my favorite. I remember seeing it when it was first broadcasted on CBS in 1965. (Note: when I first saw this, I watched it on a black and white TV - Yes! There was such a thing.).
There is an "inside" joke: Lucy tells Charlie Brown that Christmas is run by a big eastern syndicate. Here Schulz was poking fun at UFS, the syndicate that distributes his strip.
This was the first half-hour Christmas special and the first to use jazz as the soundtrack music.
