Review of A Bug's Life (1998) by Louise-Lesley J — 21 Jun 2011
The second film from Pixar is a nice step forward, going from toys that come alive, to the world of bugs. We literally go down-to-earth at this ground level tale of ants dealing with a grasshopper problem.
The ants have to harvest seeds for the grasshoppers, who come and take the food away. A clumsy ant known as Flik, winds up finding a troop of circus bugs and brings them back to the colony where everyone else believes they are warriors who have come to fight off the grasshoppers.
In the end Flik and the circus bugs, along with the rest of the colony save their little world. The visuals were good for the time and showed promise in what Pixar was capable of doing. This wasn't as good as 'Toy Story', and may be the third weakest of the pack, but it still is a good fun movie.
