Review of A Bronx Tale (1993) by Stephen J — 21 May 2008
This often happens to me. You watch an excellent film from a particular genre, and then you're somehow convinced that the genre as a whole is excellent when in fact it's really weak and tired. This movie is like that.
You watch the Godfather and expect all gangster movies to be a classic, and then you see the recycled trite material churned out after an iconic movie like that, and you realize there's a reason the Godfather stands alone.
(I feel this way about The Big Sleep, His Girl Friday, and not a few others.).
