Review of A Bronx Tale (1993) by Ratnakar S — 16 Jul 2010
A Bronx tale is another Mafia story but not as you would quite expect. A law abiding father tried to protect his son from the local mafia in their street in the Bronx to no avail. The boss of the local mafiaso takes him under his wing and treats him as his own son.
As De Niro's first film in the director's chair he produced a fine and touching story of love and loyalty on the mean streets of 60's America.
If you expect a shoot em up gangster film this will not satisfy your craving, it's more about a young man's struggle with himself to choose the right path for his life.
Lillo Brancato's facial similarites to De Niro in this film really amazed me, this kid could have been his son for real. Convincing performance all round.
