(1993) A Bronx Tale.
DRAMA.
After the success of John Singleton's "Boyz in the Hood" in 1991 about a father teaching and protecting his only son between right and wrong from partaking the gangland lifestyle, actor Robert DeNiro decided to take the director's chair by making this exceptional film about his son's appeal to the Italian gang life as opposed to doing his regular job as a bus driver which is an untypical role for DeNiro fans who can play mafia roles in his sleep- a natural! During this ordeal is a 'romeo and juliet' theme where DeNiro's Italian American son falls for an African American female teenager when the two rival factions are clashing! Exceptional and well made but already done before!
3 out of 4.
