Review of A Bridge Too Far (1977) by Sanna L — 27 Sep 2008
Considering the production year this film was quite impressive. Then again Saving Private Ryan was more captivating because it had proper main characters, unlike this film, in which we never really got to know any of the soldiers potrayed by great actors.
All fans of Band of Brothers should be interested to see this film as it gives a new perspective on operation Market Garden. I found myself wondering how the allies ever won the war after a disaster like that.
It was rather cool to see some actors in very different roles than later on (as I was born in early 80's my memory's quite short), e.g. Anthony Hopkins as a soldier (with hair!) and Alun Armstrong in a minor role.
