Review of A Breath of Scandal (1960) by Amanda C — 18 Feb 2012
I'm giving this high marks despite the sometimes cliché script because of so many things. For starters it is my favourite Sophia Loren film and it is for those who love fun, innocent trifles about Americans going to European countries with monarchies and doing zany things.
The costumes, sets, lighting and postcard beautiful photography are largely down to the legendary George Hoyningen-Huene and were executed by Ella Bei of the Knize fashion house. These costumes are unrivalled in detail and beauty and seeing some of them on the flawless and quintessential hourglass figure of Sophia Loren is dazzling.
Angela Lansbury and Isabel Jeans are magnificent and of course Chevalier. Once again it is my most favourite Sophia film and in my top ten so it has a very special place in my heart.
