WHY NOT JUST A MOVIE ABOUT THE HISTORICAL St. NICOLAS?!
As the title says, they would have been far better off making a movie about the historical Saint Nicholas and putting this much of a budget on effects and costumes into it.
There is tremendous source material and quality movies set in the Roman Empire have always been popular.
It needs to be asked why they would not.
