Review of A Boy and His Dog (1975) by Lee B — 26 Nov 2009
A strange film. I just didn't get it at all. Harlaan Ellison's "A Boy and His Dog" is captivating enough to get me to watch it for about the first hour, but afterwards it gets bogged down by its own strangeness.
The film should be looked at for its progeny inspiring things like the game Fallout, and other post-apocalyptic type games and films, but other than that, ABaHD is basically about Don Johnson who is just trying to get laid in the aftermath of WW4 while talking almost schitzophrenically to his dog that nobody else can hear, amidst trailer park scavengers of the future and clown faced people who want to harvest his sperm.
One of those definite hit or miss films but a total miss for me.
