Review of A Bigger Splash (2015) by Dave P — 07 Feb 2016
Not bad, but not great either. Ralph Fiennes is superb as an overbearing rock producer determined win back his former lover (Tilda Swinton) from his best friend (Matthias Schoenaerts) and the domesticity they enjoy together on an Italian island retreat.
But there's no real twists or thrills despite the growing suspicion and resentment within the menage a trois (or quatre, with Fiennes' sirenesque daughter also involved). Despite a murder in the third act, the film ends on nothing, but it was nice to enjoy a bit of Italian sun for two hours.
