Review of A Better Tomorrow II (1987) by Evan E — 06 Aug 2007
Action driven sequel that relies more on gun battles than plot. That is alright though because its a John Woo film from his classic era. Funny how Chow Yun-Fat magically has a twin brother in this entry, it almost defies logic because something like that most likely would have been mentioned in the first movie.
Sure to please any action fan and the ending is an action fans dream come true. I found this entry in the series more enjoyable to sit through (the first had me upset when Chow Yun-Fat dies, but it works) and has a more goofy feel than the original.
Still the original has the upper hand with the right mix of action and drama. Highly recommended! Part III is only mediocre sadly? Before Woo's later Americanized atrocities.
