To call both John Woo and Chow Yun Fat moderately successful before this film would have been polite. Afterward they were household names and mainstays of a normally fickle Hong Kong audience. There is a single moment that I believed changed everything and began to rewrite HK cinema and Hollywood to follow.
Chow Yun Fat slides back the dining room doors and opens up on the guys who betrayed his partner. That little scene made everyone sit up and say 'WOW'.
