Review of A Better Tomorrow (2010) by Sean N — 23 Feb 2009
An examination of Woo's style brings to the obvious conclusion that his plots are weak/generic but his bloodshed glorifying action is what makes the most worth. The melodramatic scenes are pretty emotional but they feel sporadically placed.
Woo also gets extra points for shooting the Hong Kong cityscape at night (briefly), something I am really fond of in general. Way better than the second one in every way but I did notice the absence of doves.
.. surprising.
