Review of A Better Life (2011) by Frank G — 17 Dec 2012
What a great surprise. A run-of-the-mill story about poor Mexican illegal immigrants told with a big heart and no cheap sentiment, that really grows on you as you watch it. Every moment breathes authentic contemporary Los Angeles - those quiet ever-present people - cleaners, gardeners, busboys - the clutters of faceless people at bus stops.
Breakout performance for Demian Bechir, as a male Mildred Pierce who idolizes his useless son.
