Review of A Beautiful Mind (2001) by Ana P — 16 May 2011
"My first grade teacher told me that I was born with two helpings of brain, but only a half of a helping of heart.".
A searing drama of wicked intellect and brain-busting cleverness. Another piece of acclaimed cinema from Director Ron Howard. (Apollo 13, Cinderella Man). A Beautiful Mind is a beautifully constructed film that is both emotionally fullfilling and strongly cerebral. It's another Award Winning film from Ron Howard who has transformed himself into one of the best directors in the game, anything he is associated with ends up being a steller piece of work, A Beautiful Mind is no exception. A slow-moving, beautifully written and profusely engaging drama that's fused throughout with an intensely dramatic and psychological mystery. It's based on the true story of Princeton Professor and Nobel Piece Prize winner John Nash, a man of unmatched intellectual capabilities and a sufferer of complicated psychological issues. A paranoid schitzophrenic, John Nash was able to overcome his delusions and become a truly spectacular individual, even after being ridiculed, bullied for years, and undergoing hardcore medical treatments for months at a time. It's another story of amazing power that inspires and astonishes.
Russell Crowe stars as Nash and gives a performance that is nothing short of pure genius. Another brilliant performance to add to his spectacular resume. Its a true marvel to watch Crowe at his very best and most engaging. Jennifer put in a spectacular supporting performance that's one of her best. Ed Harris, as always, does a wonderful job throughout. Paul Bettany is great as well.
