Review of A Beautiful Mind (2001) by Tim M — 19 Sep 2011

Russell Crowe gives perhaps his best performance ever in this moving biopic with Connelly doing a great job alongside of him. It shows in the development of the character that they filmed this chronologically instead of the usual common scenes filming that mostly all films go by in that Crowe could really build and expand on the character as it went along.

The film is remarkably true to life (I've read some things were left out due to having to agree to that to make the film so it's not the filmmaker's fault and come on, no person's life can ever be told fully in film - it would be long and probably boring) which makes it quite fascinating (the real John Nash even showed up to meet the crew).

An elegant film in terms of its technical and storytelling aspects that is another fine feather in the directorial cap of Ron Howard.
