Review of A Beautiful Mind (2001) by Brian S — 18 Mar 2014

Ron Howard's 2001 Best Picture winner, A Beautiful Mind, is a high-class studio film with an amazing score (which would have won an Oscar in any other year, but had to compete with Howard Shore's angelic Lord of the Rings work), terrific acting (although Jennifer Connelly's performance doesn't particularity scream 'Oscar' winner) and inspired directing.

The film is equally rewarding (and more importantly, moving) as well as entertaining with multiple viewings, creating a sense of wonder throughout. This is undoubtedly due to Howard and producer Brian Grazer honing in their creative juices to make (arguably) their best work together as a filmmaking team (Apollo 13 could take that accolade as well).
