Review of 99 Homes (2015) by Seth Y — 11 Dec 2015
Although it's a drama, the subject matter of 99 Homes is scarier than most horror films out there. This is an engaging story centered around financial ruin and the desperation that may come from it.
Right off the bat, the tone of the film is set with a chilling opening image that conveys the effect of foreclosure and eviction. Both Andrew Garfield and Michael Shannon deliver great performances that remain strong throughout the entire run-time.
With a movie like this, I figured there would be slow moving parts where I might have become bored. I was very pleased to find the pacing to be smooth and entertaining, topped off with an intense final minutes.
