Review of 9 Songs (2004) by J H — 04 Nov 2007
Better than I was expecting. It's interesting to see it with the fact that the entire thing is being told from the man's perspective and how the relationship deteriorates with that knowledge. That said, it is a rather shallow film and often the heavy improvisation works against it. Also, the scenes in Antarctica just don't work although - along with the concert footage - they are beautifully shot.
I'm also grateful for the films existence as a benchmark for censorship in the UK. Next step, fully legalising porn and an end to the Video Recordings Act.
