Review of 9 (2009) by Robwinz — 02 Aug 2020
9, weirdly enough I have this vivid memory from my childhood of seeing this getting sold in HMV and being brand new at the time.
Anyways, I'm getting off topic, 9 is pretty much a movie about this apocalyptic war which involves humans and machines, later on the world is completely destroyed and there's no sign of human life.
We get introduced to one ragdoll who awakens in the world and he's got the key to humanity's salvation coded over him.
I think the movie's got an interestingly dark, weird and creepy look to it either that being the designs for the destroyed city or the certain vehicles which have been built together by destroyed and wasted derbies.
Also, the voice actors are ok, there's nothing special from them in my opinion.
I think there's some great action sequences which are very cleverly put together in this movie, which I really liked.
I really liked how the ragdolls all didn't have the same sort of personalities as the main character does, they weren't all the same.
Finally, apart from those positives I think there's a lot wrong with it, as I said the characters are quite different and interesting but they're not very memorable in my opinion.
I feel like this movie lacks a really good script and not enough building up to certain scenes.
Overall, 9 isn't a bad movie but it isn't Norm Of The North Bad bad. It just needs a better script, better building up for these characters and them to be more memorable.
