Review of 8MM (1999) by Jeff B — 11 Jan 2010
This was a highly disturbing film, and I think I will have some trouble sleeping tonight after watching it. The "Manhunter"-like ending only added to the creepiness and suspense. Knowing Nicolas Cage for the method actor he is, I can only imagine his state of mind during filming.
The acting was great, especially Joaquin Phoneix, and the story was gripping. Showing the humanity of Nicolas Cage's character was a highlight as well. The uncomfortable interplay between he and his wife was about the only weak point.
