Review of 8MM (1999) by Clay K — 05 Aug 2008
A truly twisted detective film reminiscent of the great noir stories penned by Raymond Chandler, but with a level of bluntly lurid subject matter that would have given 1940's audiences a heart attack.
Nic Cage is fantastic as the unassuming and naive private eye who finds out just how sick the world can be and how far he will go to bring justice to those responsible for a shocking snuff film. This movie is hard to watch in parts, but it is mesmerizing as hell.
