Review of 8MM (1999) by Daniel H — 19 Sep 2009
The theatre chain in Farmpit, NM wanted to pull this film earlier because of the content, and while the story of a private eye investigating a snuff film's authenticity is interesting in itself, it superficially examines the whys, especially why people want to watch people being tortured and killed on film. Alejandro Amenabar's Tesis dealt with this topic in a far more superior way.
The human angle isn't neglected either. The people making these pictures think that the girls they kill are people that won't be missed, but as is true, the missing girl's mother isn't at peace until she finds out what happened to her missing daughter, who is featured in the film Cage is shown.
Not that bad, but nothing special either.
