Review of 88 Minutes (2007) by Mike W — 02 May 2009
I'd already heard that this movie was horrendous before I even saw it. I watched it mainly to see which Vancouver filming locations I'd recognize. The cast is quite star-studded, though the film's plot and horrible script ruin their potential in this film.
I'm convinced that at least Al Pacino, Benjamin McKenzie, Leah Cairns, and Amy Brenneman are better actors than this film portrays them to be. The ending's terrible too. It leaves room for a sequel that I hope will never be created.
A quite laughable highlight is seeing Leelee Sobieski's character incognito in a Boba Fett-esque outfit. The only good thing about this movie aside from the nice filming locations is that many women are cast in powerful roles: the dean, the killer, the TA.
.. A bonus for some here is the good dosage of lesbian love. Huzzah for pseudo-feminism.
