Review of 88 Minutes (2007) by Trevor C — 14 Feb 2010
88 Minutes is a film designed to intrigue and perplex, with the result that the script throws red herrings and meaningless sequences at you without any regard for the sense of the plot. What you end up with is a mish-mash of disconnected moments hanging on a script that aims to impress but simply irritates.
The performances are in thrall to this conceit, though the lack of character this creates makes it difficult to engage with anyone - especially Pacino, who manages to come across especially badly.
