Review of 88 Minutes (2007) by Marcus B — 29 Apr 2010
I'm trying to figure out if Hollywood forgot how to make a decent thriller or if I have simply seen so many movies of this kind and can no longer be suprised or shocked. I'm pretty sure that just some ten years ago I would have thought '88 minutes' was an excellent movie.
Now I found it rather lame and not so little rudiculous. Plot of this movie leaves a lot of desire - not only does it follow the template of the genre by the book, it also manages to bodge the execution of twists and turns that are mandatory in this sort of flick.
Acting is equaly bad. Pacino does an adequate job, which means that he remained on cruise control throughout the movie. The rest of the cast either knows that there really is no reason for them to be in the movie in the first place or is having a horribly bad day at work.
Leelee Sobieski, I'm talking to you.
