Review of 8213: Gacy House (2010) by Samir S — 27 Jan 2011
I was interested in seeing this after seeing a trailer for it on a previous DVD rental. It reminds me of the TV show Ghosthunters mixed in with the Blair Witch Project. A group of GhostHunters go into a new house that was built on top of where John Wayne Gacey Jr.
's house used to stand and it is billed as being real life found footage. It started off like the television show but became rather boring and lackluster. The ending is pretty creepy if you watch it at night with all of the lights off, but I think they should have cut the movie by almost ten to fifteen minutes.
I realize that would have made it only 75 minutes but all movies do no need to be 90 minutes long if it slows it down and causes people to lose interest. By the time the action actually took off, I was bored.
The thing Paranormal Activity 1&2 did was it built you up, this really had 0 build up. I would suggest to watch it on Instant Stream when it becomes available and just fast forward from point 20 to 60.
Cut out 40 minutes of crap and the movie is fun.
