Review of 8 Women (2002) by Debra T — 24 Sep 2007
So this is a French mystery soap opera. Like Clue, only with no men and with singing and dancing. And more lesbian adventures.
I really thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It's got a really wonderful cast of famous French actresses and the most incredible production design. Most of the action takes place in one room of the mansion in which the movie's set, and it really builds a sense of claustrophobia and a great whodunnit with a twist. Plus check out the 'Once More with Feeling'-style final number. The costumes are great, the colours are fantastic. Not sure about the songs (or at least, I'm nore sure most of these women were meant to sing exactly) but I'd definitely recommend this as a really accessible, fun French movie.
