Review of 8 Women (2002) by Bill B — 24 Jan 2009
My wife went looking for movies ranked the best Christmas movies, and this was one of them. We're not exceedingly keen on French movies with subtitles, however we both love Amelie so it really depends on the movie.
This movie was, in a nutshell, not one of the good ones. The plot was simplistic, the acting sketchy, and their tendencies to break into song at the oddest moment made the movie almost comical in a bad way.
It almost seemed like they had 7 songs and picked the first script they came across, then tried hard to shoehorn those songs into the movie with minimal success. Though it wasn't a complete waste of an evening as now we have something to joke about when the topic of French films comes up.
