Review of 8: The Mormon Proposition (2010) by Brian S — 30 Jun 2011
An excellent documentation of how religion does indeed poison everything and the extent to which churches have come to influence, even dominate, social policy in America. Those who insist that it is "only extremists" who want to turn their beliefs into laws especially need to see this.
Proposition 8 was the result of the mainstream Mormon Church in cooperation with mainstream groups from other faiths (e.g., The Knights of Columbus) acting as a political action committee to push a particular legislative end.
That the LDS church and Catholic Church should still have tax exempt status after this makes a mockery of the notion that we can expect equal treatment under a secular government or that there hasn't been a wholesale corruption of state by church in America.
