Predictable, yes. A little hokey and by the numbers at times, yes. I was expecting 8 Mile to blow balls and have been putting it off for years and wound up enjoying it. While Marshall Mathers himself is a little weak at times, he has the capability to be a decent actor if he had better direction.
All in all, I liked 8 Mile and feel that it fits nicely in the history of underdog movies.
