Review of '71 (2014) by Heather M — 07 Apr 2016
Gritty, dirty, plain-speaking and shocking exposure of the vile underbelly of Northern Ireland during the troubles and exposes that the terrorists existed on all sides, that morals blurred all the way from black to white and that in the end, nobody wins.
You go into that and you come out scarred and bleeding inside and out. Jack O'Connell shows why so many rate him so highly in a fact based thriller that is dark and shocking from all sides. It shows how all sides weren't strictly divided and that there were bad people everywhere, including within the Army at the time.
Intense and visceral, this is worth a watch if you enjoy dark film making. Recommended.
