Review of 61* (2001) by Elliott N — 17 Jul 2007
The Story of Roger Maris and his breaking of Babe Ruth's Homerun Record in 1961 will forever stay in the minds of American Baseball Fans.
This movie marks a time in MLB (1961) when steroids and inflated Baseball Stats were not the coffee room run-a-muck.
The 61 Homeruns hit by Roger Maris were magical, the reason for that is Roger Maris was not known as a Power Hitter and his career stats prove that fact.
To this day, Roger Maris has still not been inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame(?).
Was it because he didn't want to be a puppet for the press, a yes man!
In New York, especially if your a Yankee Baseball Player, you must learn to control the press before it control's and ruins you.
Roger Maris was a family man and just like other Yankee Greats, when his team and city needed him most he came ready to play.
