Review of (500) Days of Summer (2009) by Dov D — 02 Oct 2012
Potentially the best romantic comedy out there (short of Eternal Sunshine if you count that a romcom), Marc Webb's creation ingeniously combines the rise and fall of a quirky, offbeat couple's relationship with the use of a fractured timeline creating one of the most effective, holistic approaches to the genre in ages.
What is potentially the only romcom where the couple do not end up happily ever after turns out to be one of the most encouraging films of the genre. This movie is a must see, even for the most stringent of movie critics.
