"This is not a love story" is one of the opening lines from the narrator and it is true. But it is about people's perceptions of love. What works and what doesn't. There is actually a scene in the movie where it is a split screen with expectation on one side and reality on the other.
You you really feel emotionally connected to this would be couple and how their relationship plays out crossing back and forth through the 500 days. It is very well done. The acting is top notch. Go see it.
