Review of (500) Days of Summer (2009) by Rudra K — 05 Jul 2013
A simple storyline depicted well with some wonderful direction and strong acting prowess by both the lead actors. The supporting cast helps too.
500 days of summer is a pleasant ray of sunshine (bad pun intended) breaking the stereotypical boy meets girl bunch. The non-linearity adds to the charm and nowhere does it leaves the audience confused ( If you are, madam/sir, you are an idiot!).
Deschanel portrays this like-able, girl-next-door and yet a very confused and complex girl to a 't'. Hardly anyone can truly say they never met a girl like that, someone who wakes up one morning, no longer in love!
Joseph Gordon does an impeccable performance of an aspiring architect with mixed up priorities. He has grown by leaps and bounds from his days of 'That 70's show' and continues to do so.
The movie? The caption says it all. The way I see it, a kind of a relationship tale that had to be told!!
