Review of (500) Days of Summer (2009) by Robert I — 22 Jan 2013
Fun movie, although I can easily say it didn't live up to the hype that every magazine, filmmaker, etc. has been giving it. However, this is the kind of achievement most filmmakers strive to get. It is its own film.
It's unapologetic, kinda happy, kinda sad, and pretentious in all the right ways. The soundtrack is good in the film, but not one I'm going to out to track down like I would a Tarantino or an Anderson film and that does say something.
Not every secondary character is well utilized, but other than that the film is pretty flawless. It'll either resonate with you or it won't.
