This is one of my favourite films. 500 Days of Summer is in a league of it's own; its one of the most fresh and orginial rom-coms (or anti romantic comedy) out there since Annie Hall. Its refreshing to watch a film that isn't all cliché and predictable. 500 Days of Summer depicts the reality of relationships and heartbreak and doesn't lie to us, not like the typical Katherine Heigl type rom-coms have us believe that Mr Right will come and sweep you off your feet. However what I liked about this film is that it shows that guys want to fall in love too and find Mrs Right, which is really refreshing. The film is about a pretty nice guy called Tom Hanson (played by the cute and sexy Joseph Gordon-Levitt ;) ) who falls in love with his boss'secretary, the free-spirited and non committal Summer Finn (played by Zooey Deschanel), but whilst he's madly in love with her and wants it to be a serious relationship, she doesn't quite feel the same way.

You almost want the pair to end up together, but it's also great the story is not predictable; they make such a cute couple, but the sadness and frustration is that they're not meant to be. I thought that Chloe Moritz who plays Tom's precocious and wise younger sister was absolutely fantastic and charming; she's a young star in the making. Zooey Deschanel is absolutely delightful and quirky; Deschanel has this spark and freshness about her. Joseph G-L is humble and extremely emotive; you really love his character and feel his pain. Damn I want to marry Joseph G-L. The script is quirky and original, it definitely stands out from the cliché Hollywood scripts which seem as if they've been copied and pasted. I also love the use of the narrator in the film; it makes the film stand out more and adds that element of humour to it.

I really love this film, its far different from anything I've seen. It's got a great cast with great scenes, which are romantic, funny and moving at the same time. I highly recommend this to anyone. This is also a perfect date movie as it's something that guys can enjoy too and wont have them dozing off and wishing that they were watching Die Hard instead!

Grade: A*.
