Review of 50 First Dates (2004) by Jane L — 13 Feb 2015
50 first dates succeeds on the chemistry between Sandler and Barrymore and an enjoyable, albeit thin, script. The film offers suitable entertainment from the get go and is frankly one of Sandler's better efforts.
The film is also rather charming and whilst it may not be the most realistic portrayal of short term memory loss, it doesn't drastically damage the film's heart. This film is simply entertaining and is better than other trashy entertainment for one reason: it is never boring.
Even Rob Schneider, and yes I know pitchforks will be lit, is quite likeable in this. This film is not overly spectatular or in any way fantastically written. Its simply enjoyable, and in some way thats all the film aims for.
