Review of 50/50 (2011) by Dana F — 21 Oct 2012
This is one of those "cross-over" movies that rides the line between comedy and drama, and it does an excellent job of both. As a famous quote goes, "Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion", and this movie is certainly successful with that.
It does a great job balancing the serious subject matter with somewhat low-brow humor. The narrative is somewhat disjointed and not all the plot lines seem to match up very well, but it has enough heart and humor to more than make up for its technical flaws.
I would recommend this movie to anyone who isn't offended by a few f-bombs.
