Review of 50/50 (2011) by Rhys G — 18 Nov 2012
Not many movies can do what 50/50 has done - balance humour and drama evenly. Too often we see straight dramas - taking themselves too seriously - and comedies that don't take themselves seriously enough.
Reiser & Levine have perfected the balance. There's enough comedy to make you laugh out loud, and enough understated poignancy - skipping the melodrama - to make you shed a tear or, well ... a few tears.
