Review of 50/50 (2011) by Joseph M — 20 Dec 2012
50/50 has alot of laugh out loud moments and some serious emotional moments and it blends the two very well. When it shifts in tone it doesnt leave you wanting the latter. It's Inspired by a true story and about a young man who gets cancer and how it effects his life, family and friends.
I can't exactly relate to it but I don't think you have to to appreciate and enjoy it. Joseph Gordon-Levitts character is so unique as a person and odd that it's easy to put yourself in his place and feel what he feels.
It's thought provoking because it forces you to think about how you'd deal with getting cancer and how your friends and family might deal with it. Not a single misstep from any of the cast. Everyone of them is interesting and likable.
I would of liked to of seen more of the chemotherapy group. I thought it was a great dynamic and the back fourth banter between the three of them is where I enjoyed the comedy and drama most. Humerous, moving and inspirational.
