Review of 50/50 (2011) by President P — 06 May 2013
"50/50" manages to balance its drama against its comedy as well as any film I have ever seen. No other film has ever had me laughing one moment, and then nearly crying just a few seconds later.
But at no time during the film does the humor feel out of place or in bad taste. This mix of comedy and drama results in a film that is more effective in it's tale of cancer than any straight drama can ever be.
Perhaps most impressive about "50/50" is the script written by Will Reiser and the performance of Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Both, in my opinion, deserve oscars for their work.
