Review of 50/50 (2011) by Dov D — 17 Sep 2013
This is a fantastic movie grounded so well in reality that every emotion the characters feel is shared by the audience. I didn't see this when it first came out because I didn't think that I would like it, but two years later, when I finally did end up watching it, I was blown away.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a great actor... He was phenomenal in Brick, awe-inspiring in 500 Days Of Summer, and incredible in Inception, Looper, and The Dark Knight Rises; but 50/50 was the film that sold me on Gordon-Levitt being a Hollywood A-lister.
His performance in this film is nothing short of breathtaking. Seth Rogen was also incredible in a role somewhat outside of his comfort zone. The direction and the script were riddled with raw emotion and occasional, well placed comic relief.
Bottom line, this movie will more than likely leave you teary-eyed. I'd recommend it to everyone.
