Review of 5 Days of War (2011) by Cindy M — 29 Jul 2011
It's movies like these that glorify journalists and justify bold actions like risking their lives to cover war zones and what not. "people deserve to know the truth" most of them would say - at the expense of probably an entire platoon of soldiers trying to protect the one who carries the memory card. awesome.
But going back to the movie - the war scenes were nicely filmed - just the right amount of explosion and gory and misery. but I felt it came a bit short in building up the characters. or maybe it was just bad acting altogether. and was val kilmer, heather graham and andy garcia put in just to have big names draw the audience into the moviehouse? their roles were almost insignificant in the movie, really. and lastly, the use of romance in this movie didn't really help make it better but had rather given the audience the right to be slightly annoyed. I mean, who finds true love in a five-day war??
