Review of 4th Man Out (2015) by Patrick C — 30 May 2016
An LGBT movie that moves away from promiscuity, drugs and flamboyance and has shown the real life of a person who happens to be gay in itself is a remarkable thing. I found this to be a REFRESHING and FUNNY change of pace from the typical LGBT drivel that often fills outfest and gay film festivals.
I loved it, thought it was funny and as a happily married gay man who has been gay since I was 12 - and having been in the non-traditional (from a gay cinema perspective) career roles of prison guard, police officer, soldier and IT Director over the past 20 years - I relate much more to the 'average gay joe' than the urban metrogays that are so often parading across endless LGBT movies.
I gave the movie 5 stars and while it wasn't perfect; it really had more great moments than not. Bravo to director Andrew Nackman and writer Aaron Dancik. This movie was much closer to my reality as a gay man than most LGBT movies I have seen and I have seen HUNDREDS.
